Funding for Creative Economy Businesses in Worcester

The City of Worcester, in partnership with property owners in the Creative Economy District, has announced a funding initiative for entrepreneurs and business owners interested in opening or expanding a creative economy retail business.
The initiative will provide grant and other financial and technical assistance to creative economy businesses, including (but not limited to) music or art schools, performance venues, and art galleries/studios open to the public. (Get more information on the types of creative economy businesses that are potentially eligible, as well as approved uses of funds.)
Applicants - small creative economy businesses interested in opening or expanding in the Worcester Commercial Area Revitalization District (CARD) or the Main South Arts District - must demonstrate how they build on and support Worcester's creative economy.
Each project approved through the competitive process may be entitled to a grant in the amount of $5,000.
Proposals must be submitted to the Economic Development Division by 4:00 PM on September 30, 2010.
