NEW! - ArtistLink was first introduced to Yin Peet's vision for an abandoned granite quarry in Acton in 2006 while she was negotiating to purchase the 12.9 acre preperty from the Town of Acton. Three years later the land has been transferred and the major elements of an arts complex have emerged. Peet and partner Viktor Lois have completed a substantial new 6,000 square foot studio building. The studio building is designed for inside-outside work on large scale "hard-material" sculpture, using the indigenous granite from the abandoned quarry, as well as steel, etc. It will be ready for use in spring 2009. The entire grounds, including the quarry, will be used as a place to display outdoor sculpture.
Indoor/outdoor studio space (including major tools) will be available for use by college classes that need space for stone/metal sculpture, for rental by individual sculptors, and for activities with the Town of Acton's recreation department. ArtistLink has advised on the project in many ways over the past few years, and will be helping publicize the facility on ArtSpaceFinder.
